About Us

The Rural Emergency Care Alliance was founded with a generous donation from  Eddie and Candy Debartolo, with the express purpose of helping EMS providers care for their communities, and to help overcome the many challenges that they face.

Ryan Pitts, NRP, RN, MSN

Ryan has dedicated 26 years to EMS and Emergency care in multiple settings as a field clinician, ER nurse, educator and administrator. He lives and works in Kalispell, MT. He started his career as a volunteer Firefighter/EMT with the Smith Valley Fire Department, was a Lieutenant on the Crash Rescue crew at Glacier Park International Airport Fire for 8 years, and spent 15 years as a Firefighter/Captain/Paramedic with Evergreen Fire Rescue.   Ryan served as a flight paramedic with the ALERT flight program and has been the Director of the Flathead Valley Community College Paramedicine Program since 2016. He received his RN degree in 2015 and has worked in the Logan Health Emergency Department as a Nurse, Charge Nurse and Director, and was named the Logan Health Chief Nursing Officer in 2019.   In 2022 he took over the management of all of Logan Healths EMS network and currently serves as the Executive Director of Regional EMS.

Dan Davis, MD

Dr. Davis completed his undergraduate training at UCLA and received his MD degree from UC San Diego, where he remained for his residency training in emergency medicine.  He stayed at UC San Diego as emergency medicine faculty, where he completed a fellowship in resuscitation and neuroprotection, participated in the Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium as site Principal Investigator, and founded the UCSD Center for Resuscitation Science.  He has served as Medical Director for both ground and air EMS and performed research throughout his career with over 200 published journal articles and numerous grants and awards.  Perhaps his most impactful work has been the development of the Advanced Resuscitation Training (ART) program, which has reduced cardiac arrest incidence, improved resuscitation performance, and increased arrest survival in both the out-of-hospital and inpatient environments.  He currently serves as Logan Health EMS Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer at Logan Health Chester.

RECA's 2023 Activities and Focus

In its founding year, the alliance is focusing on two major initiatives:

  • The first focus of RECA is to become a community platform where anyone interested in Emergency Medical care can interact, communicate and support those that are delivering care.
  • The second focus of the alliance is to deliver high quality, cutting edge education to EMS providers throughout the region, both in person and online.
